My name is Sarah Almendariz Rivera and I am a native San Antonian, born and raised. I can offer services in Spanish and work with those going through difficult times and transitions. At Sarah Almendariz Counseling I believe counseling requires a plan of how to be better in the future. This requires us to know two things: where you are now, and where you came from. For some, going back to the past can be really hard. My commitment is it “go with you” back in time, and guide you back to the “now.” We can create a plan of action that builds on strengths, notices limitations, and uses coping skills to get through the “tough stuff.” I work with people of all ages and specialize in treating trauma.
I obtained my master’s degree in community counseling from the University of San Antonio at Texas in 2010. As a cognitive behavioral counselor, I work to change negative thinking patterns to see how they influence actions. I work with issues related to trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, defiant behavior, parenting, family dynamics and other “tough stuff.” I think counseling can benefit anyone who is needing extra support or feeling lost. I work with children, adolescents, adults and families in an effort to guide them to their own emotional and mental wellness.
